Join us for our 3rd annual Indy Trumpet Day event on Saturday June 22nd at St. Christopher's Episcopal Church! The day will include masterclasses from local professional players and teachers, ensemble rehearsals, clinics, and a wide variety of trumpet related activities and performances. The day will conclude with an end-of-the-day performance for parents, family, and friends. Students and players of all ages and ability levels welcome. Lunch provided.

Jason Bergman, IU Trumpet Professor

American trumpeter Jason Bergman has performed throughout the United States, South America, Europe and China. In 2008, Bergman was named Associate Principal Trumpet of the Santiago Philharmonic in Chile and more recently has been Principal Trumpet of the Mobile Symphony Orchestra and Mobile Opera. He has also performed with the Utah Symphony, Indianapolis Chamber Orchestra, Dallas Symphony, Dallas Opera and Fort Worth Symphony, as well as with the Dallas Winds on their Grammy-nominated album featuring music of John Williams. He has released three solo albums that are available on the MSR Classics label. He served as President of the International Trumpet Guild from 2021-2023. He has given presentations and performed at the Midwest Clinic, TMEA Annual Convention, the International Trumpet Guild, the College Music Society, and other similar conferences. In 2022, he joined the faculty of the Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University as Associate Professor of Music in Trumpet after serving in that same position at the University of North Texas, Brigham Young University, and the University of Southern Mississippi. Bergman, who earned a MM and DMA at the University of Michigan and a BM at Brigham Young University, is a Yamaha Artist and exclusively plays Yamaha trumpets.

Dr. Ansyn Banks (Professor of Jazz Trumpet at the University of Louisville) is a dedicated and impactful educator of jazz music, teaches jazz trumpet, jazz improvisation, and directs UofL's Jazz Ensemble I. Originally from Columbus Ohio, Ansyn has performed with Dick Oatts, Vincent Herring, Doc Severinsen, Charles McPherson, Gene Walker, Adam Nussbaum and many other jazz artists. Ansyn regularly performs or adjudicates jazz festivals throughout the nation. He's also had the honor of being a faculty member for Jamey Aebersold's summer jazz workshops for 15 years. As a top call freelance artist, Ansyn frequently performs with his quintet Legacy, and also records for Hal Leonard jazz publications. In the world of R&B, Ansyn has performed with a number of classic groups such as The Mighty Dells, The Temptations, The Temptations Review, The Four Tops, and the late Aretha Franklin.
